Alessandra (Allie) Miceli is a Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow who completed her PsyD in School Psychology at St. John’s University. Allie is a Certified New York State School Psychologist who is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and their families. She has extensive experience helping young people navigate challenges related to anxiety, executive functioning, and emotional regulation. She also works with students experiencing school-based anxiety and phobias, as well as social anxiety, helping them build confidence and develop practical coping tools that support success both in and outside the classroom.
Allie is especially dedicated to working with neurodiverse children and their families. She understands that the world isn’t always built with neurodiverse strengths in mind and strives to create an affirming, supportive space where children can thrive and parents can feel empowered in their role as advocates and caregivers.
Grounded primarily in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Allie integrates elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to tailor each session to the individual needs of her clients. She values flexibility and creativity in her approach—incorporating play, activities, and client interests into therapy whenever possible to make sessions engaging, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate.
In her work, Allie’s priority is to ensure that each child and family feels safe, comfortable, and truly heard. She believes therapy should be a space where kids can be themselves, explore their thoughts and feelings, and learn new skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. Allie brings warmth, humor, and empathy to every session, balancing the important emotional work of growth with moments of fun and connection.
Allie completed her internship at Pleasantville Middle School, where she focused on individual and group counseling using evidence-based approaches, comprehensive psychoeducational assessment, and school-based consultation to promote students’ emotional and academic success. In addition to her PsyD, she has an BA in Psychology from Boston University.
