A 4-week virtual group for parents of children and teens with anxiety, OCD, or excessive worries

Parenting your child with ANXIETY

What you can expect from this group:

When a child experiences anxiety, it often impacts the entire family. Daily routines, school activities, social situations, and overall stress at home can become more challenging. Many children with anxiety may also feel hesitant to participate in therapy, which can make it hard for families to know how to move forward. The encouraging news is that parents can play a central role in reducing anxiety by making targeted changes in the way they respond to their child's anxiety. These changes help their child build coping skills and resilience over time.

In our 4-week virtual group, Parenting Your Child with Anxiety, we teach parents Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), an evidence-based, parent-led approach developed at the Yale Child Study Center. SPACE does not expect parents to act as therapists. Instead, it provides a structured approach and practical tools you can use to create a clear roadmap for reducing your child’s anxiety symptoms.

In this group you will gain:

  • Insight Into Your Family’s Anxiety Patterns: Identify the ways anxiety is showing up in your child's day-to-day life and begin mapping the patterns that may be keeping it in place.

  • A Good Place to Start: Develop a clear, realistic understanding of how to begin shifting your responses at home, including how to choose a starting point and exactly what to do and say when your child is feeling worried.

  • Preparation for Real-Life Challenges: Understand how to handle common child reactions, stay consistent in your approach, and build confidence in your ability to follow through.

By the end of this group, you will have everything you need to begin using this approach yourself. However, you do not have to do it alone. If you would like more personalized support, you are welcome to transition into one-on-one work with a clinician who will guide you through the process, troubleshoot any challenges, and help you tailor these interventions to your unique child and family. Either way, you will leave feeling more prepared, supported, and ready to move forward.
